Last Sunday, Pete Wilson and the insanely talented staff at Cross Point Church in Nashville and Dickson invited me to come speak. I'd never spoken at a church before and I'm not going to lie, the prospect of doing it four times in one day had me a little sweaty.
The title of the message is "Adam & the Three Questions" but if you watch it you'll notice things from Stuff Christians Like such as Booty, God, Booty, the Prayer Shotblock and Thinking You're Naked. You'll also notice the robot, which I did within the first 5 minutes.
I can't thank Pete and Dave and Anne and the whole Cross Point staff enough. Without further ado, here is the message from last week. Happy Friday
Ok, I'm 9 minutes into it and you have captured my attention and made me laugh and think so far. This is awesome. You are a GREAT speaker! I thank God I came across your blog. Thank you for your ministry!

Arrgh! I've got to call a PC guru. I haven't been able to see videos posted on blogs for a few months now. All I see is a big white box with a tiny multi-color box in the left-hand corner. Up until now, it hasn't mattered, but this is one video I don't want to miss! Any suggestions for correcting this?

Thank you for posting the video - I was so glad for the chance to hear you speak! "I am the Alpha and the Omega, and I know your name..." - I'm walking with this today. Also, the story about your daughter expressing shame for the first time made my heart break for my own memories of this realization but also rejoice that your daughter is blessed with a father who is watching, listening, and fighting for her heart. Can I just say how proud I am of you? I am really enjoying your writing and so thankful that I found your blog.

Seriously you did great. My only complaint is that it is a lot of the same stories I've heard, but it was great hearing you share them instead of reading them. Now I know how to read what you are writing.

The thing that is intriguing about you Jon is that when you strip away all of the goofiness of your humor your message is insightful and fresh and you can absolutely feel your earnestness, which surprised me only a little. It was a great message, really glad I had the time to watch it. Next time though, skittles and a piece of cardboard for some proper break dancing. Lose the Robot. ; )

ReplyDeleteBut I encourage you to go just one size smaller with your shirts. One day you will be bigger than you are now and will have to hide your gut. You're not there yet. Plus bigger shirts make you look like you're swimming in them. Smaller shirts will make your muscles more visible. Flaunt your size while you can. Best bit of advice the church fashionistas (i.e. metrosexual worship leaders) gave me.

ReplyDelete1. Tell the truth, how old are you? 12, 13? 16? You look very young. If you are 30 or so you should be praising Jesus for making you look young. If you were a woman I'd be jealous of you. But you are a man so I can share with you in the 'I look 15 years younger than I am' club.

2. You sound American lol. All this time of reading your blog you sounded British in my head. Maybe next time you speak you can put on a British accent for me?
