Voting will remain open until Sunday, August 3rd at midnight. The tattoo with the highest number of votes will win. I included back story for the tattoos that were sent with some. If you own one of these tattoos and want to share your story, email me and I will add it. There will be one overall winner from all 13 tattoos. This is the finals, the one tattoo to rule them all. (horrible, horrible LOTR pun)
5. San Francisco Dove
I was the pastor of Providence Christian Center (aka: the hotdogchurch) http://www.hotdogchurch.com/ in San Francisco for 14 years. When I left to come back to NC to plant another church in Charlotte. I got this tat for the love of God and the city. It took 12 hours and I did it in one sitting. If you look close it even has cars on the golden gate bridge.
6. Wrist Arrows
7. Creation Circles
My creation tattoo is 7 circles that tell the story. It is hard to artistically show each literal day of creation, but it goes like this.
Day 1: let there be light
Day 2: separation between the sky and space
Day 3: separation between land and water and the creation of plants
Day 4: separation between day and night and the creation of seasons and the stars
Day 5: animals of the land, fish of the sea
Day 6: transitioning into the story of what happened after man and woman were created
Day 7: what the Sabbath stands for, resting the fact that God created us and provided salvation

The dove's feet on fire are the best!
ReplyDeleteFor the curious: The book in that photo is In Our Joy by John Piper. I haven't read it yet, but it's available free online.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if this person got the tattoo because of the contents of the book or if they just liked the cover.

ReplyDeleteI have no idea what the arrows mean, but I like 'em, so they've got my vote!
ReplyDeleteSan Fran Dove...that dove is like a super fire dove...which is awesome.
ReplyDeleteThe guy with the wrist arrows (John Piper symbol) is a friend of mine, and I know he greatly admires Piper's work! I'm so excited that I know one of the finalists, and I'm definitely voting for his tattoo. :-)

ReplyDeleteActually, the "wrist arrows" is the logo for the entire Desiring God Ministry. I hate to speak on behalf of this guy (though I was the one that encouraged him to enter!) but He's just a *little* obsessed with Desiring God and John Piper in general.
ReplyDeleteI gotta say...I love the San Fran Dove one...for both the looks AND the true pastor's heart that would carry that kind of passion for the city...
ReplyDeleteAre these all the tattoos that were submitted or just the finals that were picked by the judges? (Not sure if I missed some info along the way or not...) I had submitted a few, but was never sure if they went thru when I sent them...
